TBS Ranch of Palo Cedro with Nicole and Sean - Redding, California Photographer

Jamie Solorio Photography website is now up and running!!!!

Last night I had the privilege of getting to go out and explore the TBS Ranch of Palo Cedro, California.  Since I had not ever been there I showed up 20 minutes early and was greeted by a man riding a tractor down the gravel driveway.  I thought for sure I would be busted for parking in the wrong place or worse yet, on somebodies private property.  Instead I was greeted by a man with a friendly face and a easy going demeanor, it was Sean my subject for the evening.  He told me I could go explore the property while he got ready really quick and got his wife, Nicole.

The two of them have been married for two years now, and were originally wed at the TBS Ranch.  We had a fun evening, despite the chilly wind.  Thank you both for coming out and having a fun photo shoot, you both are great models! :)

2nd Saturday ArtHop of Redding, California - April 9th, 2011

I feel so lucky to be able to roam around town and see some truly amazing artists!  The whole idea behind the Redding, California 2nd Saturday ArtHop is amazing.  To think that our little town celebrates and supports some very talented local artists.

To begin the night I stopped at Ethan Allen located at 307 Park Marina Circle of Redding, California.  The owner of the furniture gallery was kind enough to host the incredible young talented freelance artist by the name of Tricia Kibler.  I can not tell you how seriously impressed I am by her immense skills.  Tricia's acrylic paintings have such great detail and texture to them. Her paintings are so vivid in color and emotion, which was so refreshing to see.  There were countless pieces that I would of loved to purchased to hang around my house, and who knows...one day I just might!  That good...really...go check her out!

Tricia has always been intrigued by art and is able to now be at home with her son while being able to still create original works.  She finds inspiration usually in the morning and is inspired by all things including photographs. You can check her site out HERE to see more images of her fascinating work.  If you would like to contact her, you can at kibler4u@yahoo.com.

Next stop for me was Parmer's Furniture located at 333 Park Marina Circle to see their featured artist John Bradford's photographs.  Mr. Bradford's had been taking photographs for over 10 years and likes to enhance some of his images using HDR. His images range from macro photography, portraits, landscapes, and real estate.  You can take a look at his website HERE.

The last place I visited was the lively gallery by the name of Bevie's Fine Arts Studio and Gallery located at 3403 Bechelli Lane, Suite C of Redding, California.  Their featured artist was Linda McMahan who painted such vibrant portraits of African Americans.  It was a joy to meet such a kind and talented woman.  Linda has been interested in art for over 30 years.  She is quite the crafty lady, not only does she paint she also is an avid tiler, glassware maker, and stained glass artist.  You can contact Linda McMahan through email at Linda-80@charter.net.

Some of the other artists including Sondy Krick, LuAnn McBrayer, Nanci Sackett, D'Ann Bourne, and the owner of the gallery Beverly Dearman had pieces hung in the gallery.  I have included an array of images from the gallery and propose that you go to the gallery yourself to see the beautiful images they have currently on display.

James and Ashley's Engagement Session Favorites - Redding California Engagement Photographer

Okay, finished with this soon to be married couples images.  James and Ashley were a lot of fun to work with and I so look forward to taking their pictures again soon.  We have decided to also do a nature type setting with them, and I have some great ideas that I can't wait to try out on them. :)  Again, thanks you guys for letting me capture some intimate moments between the two of you.

On a different note, Vicki you are up next and then the ArtHop blog post is after that!  My husband and I have been crazy busy trying to get some things wrapped up around here with our laptop, network, business cards, and trifold brochers...busy, busy, busy!  Right now I have time for this post since I am backing  up Vicki's session on two external hard drives as I type this out.  I have so learned from my past errors, please back up your images!!!!;)  By the way, I have a feeling that the pictures of Vicki's daughter and her are going to be adorable!  Thanks for taking the time to stop by and see my latest photographs.

More of My Now Ten Year Old - Redding California Childrens Photographer

PHEW!  Let me tell you!  This laptop crash of mine has really set me back...but I am catching up!  Yes, it is past 1 am, but it is the only time that I have without a toddler around.

I have to give a big shout out to my husband who fixed yet ANOTHER virus on my computer today...seriously, what the heck!  Anyhow, this one wasn't as bad as the last one that took my laptop to factory settings! :)  He also set me up with a network, so backing up and saving all my files is a cinch!  That is why I have some time to blog right now...backing up my latest edits!

To end, I thought I would share a funny story with you!  So, here I am trying to really get this photography business of mine up and going, right...but it is a bit difficult with a child at home with me 24/7.  Toddlers just really don't care what you are doing at the time when they need you.  So, back to my story!  I was on the phone with a lady who is interested in me taking some pictures of her daughter this weekend, and as we were discussing our plans... my daughter had gone to the bathroom for a, well...hmmm...a number two.  So, as I was talking to this lady, I was actually cleaning up her bottom and trying to remain as professional as possible. LOL!  The things moms do!  MULTI-TASKERS!

Such a cute couple!  I even enjoyed doing their edits for a second time tonight! LOL!  Though I am looking forward to the 2nd half of their images, there are some really great shots of this twitterpated couple.  Guess what...I backed them all up on my passport right afterwards.  I am learning.... LOL! :)

Happy Birthday Kya!

My oldest turned 10 years old about one hour and 40 mins ago!  What a crazy thought, I was giving birth to this absolutely incredible human 10 years ago!  Kya, I hope you have an amazing birthday and I love you more that you will ever know!

Love you forever,
Mommy

On a different note: my hubby got my crashed laptop up and running!  Yes!  Bad news is I lost everything form January up until 2 days ago!  All my actions I have created, my logo, my most precious pictures of my girls, my everything.  Oh well, there are much worse things in life.  So, please back up those important images, you will not be sorry you did!

Laptop Crashed!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, all my edited images might be gone that have not yet been saved to my external hard drive!  HOURS worth of work...possibly gone.  Yikes!  Then I tried out my new email and it is the WORST!  What a fun computer day!  So, my new email is similar, but slightly different.... solofoto@ymail.com.

No pictures today...since my other computer with all my work on it is possibly dead! :(

Lesson 1.  Back up. Back up. Back up your files!!!!! :)  Luckily I still have most of my RAW files on memory cards so at least the recent phtoto sessions aren't lost.

Ashley and James's Engagement Session - Engagement Photographer Redding, CA

I just have to start off by saying that these two are so stinking adorable!  The love between them is so obvious and powerful.  It is always nice to see a young couple so in love and excited to spend their lives together.   Thank you Ashley and James for letting me take your engagement pictures, you guys were so fun and easy to capture.  To see more of their images you can click HERE.

As far as weather goes, I typically like to shoot with much more light.  However, today  was very overcast and that was something somewhat new for me to experiment with.  There are great things about overcast days, one being there are no harsh shadows or blinding highlight blow outs.  I could take a picture anywhere I wanted and didn't have to worry too much about exposure on Ashley and James.  The only thing that I am not a huge fan of with cloudy days like today would be the lack of sun flare in my images and dramatic back lighting.  Next time I do an overcast shoot, I am thinking of popping on my polarizing filter to see if I can get the colors to pop more also.  These images are considerably lighter than the images I see in photoshop, but when they print they will have more of a color pop.  I still am working on finding a good photoshop recipe for saving for the web without a loss of color saturation.
